Pastoral Care & Interventions

There is a very strong pastoral care system at Rachel Madocks. All pupils and students are supported by their class teachers and are given the opportunity to raise issues and voice choices through the School Council.

Parents, carers and staff have weekly individual communication through home/school books and half-termly newsletters provide more general diary dates, news items and a flavour of daily life at Rachel Madocks. If required, advice can be offered to families on giving the most appropriate support in the home and school environment to provide resources for emotional wellbeing and social development.

At Rachel Madocks, we are pleased to offer a range of interventions to suit the varying needs of our school community as well as additional support including:

  • Behaviour support/management (including Individual Behaviour Support Plans)
  • Emotional support (including counselling, music & talking sessions, ELSA)
  • Referrals to external agencies (e.g. CAMHS)

We also have a team of visiting Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech & Language Therapists who come into school on a weekly basis to provide professional support with specific issues. Regular clinics are held on site with consultants, dentists, wheelchair and orthotics specialists.

This wide-ranging provision helps to alleviate stress and anxiety for pupils and parents/carers.
