Due to a recent resignation, we have a full time, permanent vacancy for an enthusiastic and motivated teacher to join our dedicated and supportive staff team. We aim to appoint someone who, like our current teachers, is passionate about special education and has high expectations of themselves and the pupils they teach.

The leadership team and governors are committed to raising pupil attainment and supporting outstanding practice. We continue to be a Good School (Ofsted November 2017) who are “successfully driving further improvements” and “dedicated to our pupils, their families and our staff”. The school ethos “Valued for being Me” does mean everyone! We are a caring, friendly and supportive team.

This vacancy is an exciting opportunity for a qualified teacher with a passion for teaching young people with special needs whose background evidences this commitment and enthusiasm. We do welcome applications from Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) but you will need to have relevant background experience in behaviour management.

Learning Support Assistant required

30 hours per week – Fixed term post to 31.03.2022 - term time only

We have a vacancy for a Learning Support Assistant 30 hours per week, term time only for a fixed term to 31st of March 2022

Our pupils are aged 2 – 19 years with learning, communication and complex health needs ranging from severe to profound and multiple. The successful applicant will be required to work across the breadth of our school.

Ideally, you will have some experience of SEND in a learning environment but this is not essential if you show a strong desire to work with our young people. We welcome applications from people with or without experience, or suitably qualified professionals who are passionate about working with children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Our 30 core hours of work are 8:45am to 3:15pm Monday to Friday with half an hour lunch break. As we are a school, you will be required to take all annual leave during school holidays. Integral to your own professional development and as part of your core working weeks you will be required to attend some after school meetings and essential twilight training.

The salary range is Grade B or C depending on your qualifications and experience. Hourly rate range is therefore £9.62 to £10.34 and the actual annual salary range £13,203. To £14,184. for 30 hours per week term time only.

Join our Governing Body, and help move our school forward, from Good to Outstanding!

Rachel Madocks Special School is a co-educational day school for 91 pupils aged 2 -19 with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and complex medical needs, near to Waterlooville.

We have:-

Our latest Ofsted inspection in November 2017 confirmed that we continue to be a ‘good school’.

We are currently recruiting Governors to join our friendly governing body, drawn from members of the local community, staff and parents. Their important role is to support the excellent work of the school, be a critical friend and ensure we become ‘outstanding’. We usually meet after school at 5pm (currently on Zoom) and you would be expected to attend approximately 9 meetings annually.
